    The Laconia Water Department is growing, and we’re looking for a new Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who wants a meaningful career, making a direct impact on the health and safety of our community. Our operators play a vital role in ensuring residents have clean, safe drinking water every day. In addition to operating the treatment plant, we run an accredited laboratory where we process microbiological water samples.

    Description:Responsible for the efficient and effective operations of the surface water and groundwater treatment plants. Operator maintains appropriate local, state and federal report forms by rules and statutes. Acquire water samples and conduct test procedures as required. Monitor and adjust control apparatus following appropriate procedures. Constant inspections of plant equipment and machinery to make necessary adjustments or to clean and perform maintenance tasks. Ability to keep detailed records of tests and graph recording consumption. Operator fills towers, backwashes, filters and controls the water flow to and from treatment plants. The operator is responsible for responding to emergency calls and operates emergency generators at plants and pump stations. Must have the ability to investigate customer calls regarding water-related problems.

    Qualifications:Requires knowledge of water treatment systems and operations equivalent to completion of a high school diploma along with advanced courses from a two-year college or technical school, and one to three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current State of New Hampshire Water Works Operator Certification - Treatment Grade I with the ability to acquire a Grade II certification within 1 year.     The Hooksett Wastewater Treatment Plant is looking to hire an Operator II/Laboratory Technician to complement our existing staff. This is a skilled position that does require formal wastewater training.

    The position includes work such as: getting samples from around plant, running tests on samples, cleaning buildings and grounds, painting, mowing lawns and easements, snow removal at plant and pump stations, assist with repairs at plant and pump stations, recording information into our asset management program, and driving truck to dispose of biosolids.
